How to Make Playlists for Music Stored on Dropbox

If your music library lives in Dropbox, you don't have to shuffle through folders every time you want to listen. You can group your favourite tracks into playlists and play them your way on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Here's how to build playlists with Musicbox, the dedicated Dropbox music player.

What you'll need

Step-by-step: create playlists from your Dropbox music

  1. Install Musicbox and connect your Dropbox. Download Musicbox and open it. Go to the Network section, choose Dropbox and sign in on Dropbox's official page. Musicbox only keeps a secure token on your device — your password is never stored.
  2. Open the Playlists section. Tap through to the Playlists section in Musicbox.
  3. Create a new playlist. Tap the "+" button, or tap "..." and choose New Playlist.
  4. Name it and save. Enter a name for your playlist and tap Save.
  5. Add songs. Tap "...", choose Add Songs, pick the tracks from your library, then tap Done.
  6. Reorder and refine. Tap "..." and choose Edit Playlist to drag and reorder tracks or sort them into the perfect running order.

Tip: Build playlists around the way you actually listen — by mood, genre or occasion. A focus mix for work, an upbeat set for the gym or a mellow playlist for winding down all pull from the same Dropbox library.

Why organize your Dropbox music into playlists?

Playlists turn a big Dropbox library into something you can enjoy in seconds, with no scrolling through folders. Once a playlist is built it stays ready to go, and it pairs perfectly with Musicbox's equalizer, sleep timer and background playback for the ideal listening experience.
