FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Musicbox free to download?

Yes. Musicbox is a free download on the App Store and runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

What is Musicbox?

Musicbox is a music player built for the songs you keep in Dropbox. You can stream tracks on demand or download them for offline playback, build playlists, and shape the sound with the built-in equalizer. Your library is neatly organized by artist, album, genre and composer, while gapless playback, crossfade, Chromecast and AirPlay keep the listening seamless.

How does Musicbox work?

Once you link your Dropbox account, Musicbox reads the audio files stored there so you can stream them or save them for offline listening. It supports a wide range of formats, lets you create playlists, adjust the equalizer and cast to other devices, and it can also play music you have imported directly onto your device.

Is Musicbox safe to use?

Yes. Musicbox relies on secure SDKs and encrypted connections, and it never stores your login credentials. Signing in happens entirely on Dropbox's own official pages, and only a secure authorization token is kept on your device. You can revoke that token at any time from your Dropbox account settings in a web browser. Downloaded music lives in the app's Documents folder and can be removed through the built-in file manager, and disconnecting your account or uninstalling the app clears the stored token along with any downloaded data.
