How to Download Music from Google Drive and Listen Offline

Streaming is great until the signal drops on a flight, a subway ride or a road trip. The good news: if your music lives in Google Drive, you can save it straight to your iPhone, iPad or Mac and play it anywhere, completely offline. Here's how to do it with GoPlayer, the dedicated Google Drive music player.

What you'll need

Step-by-step: save Google Drive music for offline playback

  1. Install GoPlayer. Download GoPlayer free from the App Store and open it.
  2. Connect your Google Drive. Go to the Network section, choose Google Drive and sign in on Google's official page. GoPlayer only keeps a secure token on your device — your password is never stored.
  3. Browse to your music. Open the folder that holds the songs, albums or playlists you want to keep.
  4. Select what to download. Tap the "..." button, choose Select, then tap the tracks or folders you'd like to save.
  5. Download. Tap Download. GoPlayer copies the files into the app so they're ready to play with no internet connection.
  6. Play offline. Switch to Airplane Mode to test it — your downloaded music keeps playing perfectly.

Tip: Downloaded tracks live in GoPlayer's own storage. To free up space later, open the built-in file manager and delete the files you no longer need — your originals stay safe in Google Drive.

Why download instead of stream?

Offline downloads mean zero buffering, no data usage, and gapless playback even where there's no coverage. It's the most reliable way to enjoy a large Google Drive library on the go, and it pairs perfectly with GoPlayer's equalizer, sleep timer and background playback.
